LOS ANGELES (November 4, 2025) – With the record-breaking Baahubali franchise returning to theaters worldwide last week with “Baahubali: The Epic,” Arka Mediaworks announced the next chapter in that mythic saga: a two-part animated feature event, titled BAAHUBALI: THE ETERNAL WAR.
Part One has been slated for a 2027 release exclusively in movie theaters. A preview featuring the first footage, which can be seen in theatres ahead of screenings of “Baahubali: The Epic,” is available HERE.
Set in the wake of the iconic cliffhanger that ended “Baahubali: The Beginning,” “The Eternal War” will follow the betrayed and murdered prince Amarendra Baahubali (voiced by Telugu cinema titan Prabhas in a reprisal of his film role) into the afterlife. His heart aching for those he left behind, Amarendra Baahubali finds himself at the center of an ancient cosmic war between Devas and Asuras. As he navigates through the 14 realms of existence, he forges an unlikely alliance, confronts divine forces beyond mortal comprehension, and fights to restore balance to the cosmos.” Ramya Krishna reprises her role from the live-action films as well, voicing Sivagami once again.
Award-winning animator Ishan Shukla (“Star Wars: Visions,” “Schirkoa: In Lies We Trust”) will direct both films. Scott Mosier (“The Grinch,” “Free Birds”), who began his career producing Kevin Smith films including Clerks, Chasing Amy, and Dogma, will write the screenplays. The films are based on a story by Ishan Shukla and Sowmya Sharma. SS Rajamouli, who wrote and directed both live-action Baahubali films and re-cut them into the monumental “Baahubali: The Epic,” will produce the films alongside returning producers Shobu Yarlagadda and Prasad Devineni (Arka Mediaworks). M.M. Keeravani (“RRR”), who won an Academy Award for the global smash hit “Naatu Naatu” from RRR, will contribute original music.
Baahubali: The Eternal War features stunning, state-of-the-art animation inspired by global animated cinema and infused with the aesthetics of Indian mythology. The film is the next step in establishing Baahubali as a cinematic universe with a myriad of potential stories to be told in both live-action and animation.

QUOTE FROM S.S. RAJAMOULI
“When Ishan brought us the idea of expanding the Baahubali universe into a stylised animated epic, it clicked instantly.” It feels like a seamless, organic extension of the world we built, one that will thrill long‑time fans and invite new audiences in. I am excited to bring these two films to the big screen.”
QUOTE FROM SHOBU YARLAGADDA
Arka producer Shobu Yarlagadda explained the choice of partners: “Baahubali is more than just a film franchise; it’s a cultural phenomenon and a deeply emotional universe for millions of fans. To bring it into a new medium like stylised animation, we needed partners who not only understood world-class production but who could truly respect and elevate the epic scope of the story with a bold, stylised visual artistry never seen before in Indian cinema. Aniventure, Zaratan, and Alcyde are those partners.”
It has been 10 years since the original “Baahubali: The Beginning” broke box office records, becoming the all-time highest-grossing Telugu language film. Its 2017 sequel, “Baahubali 2: The Conclusion,” surpassed and maintains that record, remaining the highest-grossing Indian film of all time in North America.
