Nakama Press, an imprint of Mad Cave Studios, is thrilled to give a first look at CYBER PHOENIX—a high‑octane fusion of martial arts mayhem and speculative science fiction from Andy Seto (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Shaolin Soccer), one of Hong Kong’s most acclaimed comic creators.
It is the not-so-distant future, and both the mystical martial artists and advanced robotic intelligence occupy the same world. Against this backdrop, a family of brilliant scientists have vanished, leaving behind their eldest daughter, Ling Hoi, who manages to escape with the help of her A.I. robot pet, I.i. In a desperate move, she seeks out the assistance of her aunt, Wong Yam, at the Emei Mountain Spirit Power Academy, a training facility for women of great martial arts prowess. Now, Ling Hoi and Wong Yam must put aside family friction to rescue the rest of their family. But what terrible powers are responsible for their disappearance, and why?
Drawing on strong influence from Japanese anime and manga, Cyber Phoenix explores questions of scientific ethics alongside bombastic martial arts sequences! Creator Andy Seto is known for his work alongside legendary director Stephen Chow, as well as his adaptation of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.
