Gaming Explosions: What’s New in April 2025?

Author: Greg Lozano

April is about to be an explosive month for gaming. Not only regarding the releases as certain platforms will gain access to amazing titles, but this is the month the Switch 2 news releases, and by the time this article releases, I’m sure there will be some new titles making their way into our known minds. Below is a culmination of titles that will be released according to various sites, but as always, games can get delayed or shadow dropped, so this is just an approximation based on the information that is currently available.

PC

Croc: Legend of the Gobbos remaster – April 2
Genre: Mascot Platformer / Single Player / Price: 29.99
The PS1 era had a load of mascot platformers, all trying to compete on the same stage as Mario, and now they are making a comeback through remasters and better controls.

The Last of Us Part 2 – April 3
Genre: Story Narrative Action / Single Player / Price: 49.99
If the title was 70 dollars, I would say pass on it. As much praise as I give this and the first game, the fact that it’s been rereleased so many times since its inception baffles me, but it is a great game and worthy of checking out if you’ve played the first.

South of Midnight  – April 8
Genre: Story Narrative Action Adventure / Single Player / Price 39.99
This is a title that has been on my radar since first announced. It looks to bring its own charm to a rather saturated genre of gaming, the same was as We Happy Few did when it released. The games themselves aren’t exactly groundbreaking when it comes to innovation, but enough of it is changed to give a fresh feel for their distinct titles.

Blue Prince – April 10
Genre: Puzzle Adventure / Single Player / Price: N/A
Stated as genre-defying, this puzzle game looks to place you in a manor with ever changing environments who’s end game is to find a certain room. This game will get puzzle players in anticipation as they explore each room.

The Talos Principle: Reawakened – April 10
Genre: Puzzle / Single Player / Price: N/A
It’s been 10 years since the original release and Devolver Digital thought it was time for a remaster cash grab. The graphical improvements are nothing shy of fantastic as the game looks incredibly gorgeous. Honestly, if the price is right, I’m not opposed to this rerelease as I didn’t even hear about the original, and with the improvements they’ve done, it looks like it is worth introducing to a new audience.

Crashlands 2 – April 10
Genre: Asymmetric RPG / Single Player / Price: N/A
This incredibly charming title looks to have fun in an intergalactic setting where you get to meet all sorts of quirky aliens and craft unique weapons.

Monaco 2 – April 10
Genre: Stealth Action / Single Player and Online Co-op / Price: N/A
Each character has a unique ability when involved in the heist, and honestly, this looks fun. I love unique ideas and getting to be a big time heist group is something that one does not commonly find in many games.

Promise Mascot Agency – April 10
Genre: Obscure Sim Development / Single Player / Price: N/A
Have you ever seen a game so strange you can’t help but be curious about it? As a disgraced Yakuza Lieutenant, you are tasked with bringing a dying town of mascots back to life and it is up to you to boost the morale of these mascots so that the city can thrive again.

Lost Records: Bloom and Rage (Tape 2) – April 15
Genre: Narrative Adventure / Single Player / 39.99
Back in February tape 1 released and I did not know then that the price was for both tapes and an extended DLC. This team is famous for narrative adventures and the first part has received high praise.

Monument Valley 1 + 2 – April 15
Genre: Puzzle / Single Player / Price: 7.99 each
The highly rated and acclaimed puzzler is making its way onto consoles. This looks like an absolutely charming isometric puzzle game that just looks like it’ll captivate players for hours while enjoying the colorful world.

Lunar Remastered Collection – April 18
Genre: Japanese RPG / Single Player / Price: N/A
An RPG that has not surfaced since the SNES era makes its comeback through a remaster of the collection with incredible 2D sprites and beautiful animations through combat. I truly hope this game gets a lot of love as it was incredible when I first played it as a kid.

Sunderfolk – April 23
Genre: Couch Co-op RPG / Single Player and Co-op / Price: N/A
A hex grid RPG where players get to control their characters through an app on their phone. A really interesting way to expand gameplay and it looks like it’ll be great for those that enjoy DnD.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 – April 24
Genre: Exploring RPG / Single Player / Price: 49.99
This game looks stunning. From the amazing detail of the world you explore to the fluidity of the turned based combat, everything about this just draws me in with intrigue. I’ve not heard about this game before, but I want it to succeed.

Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves – April 24
Genre: Fighting / Single Player and Multiplayer / Price: 59.99
The first Fatal Fury game in 26 years. SNK is taking a break from their famous KoF series and hammering the nails on the franchise that gave KoF a platform. SNK games have been extremely popular with the Latin-American community to the point where even Christiano Ronaldo is a character, and funny enough, isn’t even voiced by him.

Phantom Brave: The Lost Hero – April 24
Genre: RPG / Single Player / Price: 59.99 – 99.99
This RPG series famously finds its way on PlayStation and other consoles, but this entry is making its way onto PC. A very cutsie RPG with a “play-it-your-way” approach.

MotoGP 25 – April 30
Genre: Racing Sim / Single Player and Multiplayer / Price: 59.99
Closing out the month is the annual motorbike racer. One of the few titles this month that releases on every platform so if this is of your liking, you have choices.

Xbox

Croc: Legend of the Gibbos – April 2
Genre: Mascot Platformer / Single Player / Price: 29.99
The PS1 era had a load of mascot platformers, all trying to compete on the same stage as Mario, and now they are making a comeback through remasters and better controls.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle – April 17
Genre: Action Adventure / Single Player / Price: 69.99
Finally making its way onto the PS5, Bethesda brings its excellent title to a new platform for more players to enjoy. There are a lot of unique methods of combat in this first person adventure that’ll surely bring Indy fans joy.

Lunar Remastered Collection – April 18

Days Gone Remastered – April 25
Genre: Survival Adventure / Single Player / Price: 49.99
A game hailed and praised when it released in 2019 for the PS4, and now, 5 years later, a remaster is made to work on the PS5. There wasn’t much to improve as the original game was cherished, and honestly, graphics don’t look like much was changed, but I’m sure lighting effects improved. While this is nice for those that haven’t enjoyed it when it first released, the practice of remastering a game from one console previous is an annoying one when said console actually is still selling very well.

Forza Horizon 5 – April 29
Genre: Racing Sim / Single Player and Online Multiplayer / Price: 59.99 – 99.99
Microsoft’s well known racing franchise makes it land alongside Grand Turismo 7 as it makes its way to PS5 later this month.

MotoGP 25 – April 30
Genre: Racing Sim / Single Player and Multiplayer / Price: 59.99
Closing out the month is the annual motorbike racer. One of the few titles this month that releases on every platform so if this is of your liking, you have choices.

Conclusion

Those are the titles that are releasing this month across all platforms. The games that look like they would fit my play style the most happen to be Monaco 2, as I would very much love to play a great heist game, South of Midnight for its intriguing setting, Momentum Valley for the puzzle itch, and the Lunar Collection for nostalgia purposes. The Switch 2 news will be coming at the start of April, so I will be sharing more information when that arrives. Please let me know which games interest you this month.
