WHAT: The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County (NHM) invites girls ages 8-18 (and their families) to join for the annual Girls in STEM Days on March 16 & 17. This weekend-long event provides an exciting opportunity for girls to participate in STEM activities and explore future career paths in a fun and engaging way.
During Women’s History Month, the Girls in STEM Days celebration will feature a STEMinist Fair in the Nature Gardens, where guests can meet and interact with local STEM-based organizations such as CSULB Shark Lab, L.A. Zoo, AOP Teen Climate Council, California Geological Survey, Pasadena Humane, Marine Mammal Care Center, SoCal Paleontological Society, L.A. County Public Works – STEAM, Roundhouse Aquarium, USC Palaeosciences, Girls in STEM Club, Cabrillo Marine Aquarium, and Society of Women Engineers at USC.
The weekend will also include live music, a scavenger hunt, giveaways, a photo booth, and the Women In STEM Stage, with presentations and discussions with various women in STEM careers. Girls in STEM Days is free for Members and free for non-members with general admission.
The Natural History Museums of Los Angeles County is developing a strategic, innovative approach to STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, mathematics) workforce development through work-based learning, mentorship, and applied skill building.
