| LITTLE AMÉLIE OR THE CHARACTER OF RAIN (original title in French: Amélie et la Métaphysique des tubes). After a highly successful festival run, the critically acclaimed indie animated darling comes to theaters nationwide starting November 7th. Prior to its nationwide expansion, the title will open in select markets starting October 31st. Tickets for all screenings are on sale now. Last week, GKIDS also announced that ÉIRU, the new short film from Academy Award®-nominated studio Cartoon Saloon (The Secret of Kells, Song of the Sea, Wolfwalkers) will play ahead of North American theatrical screenings of LITTLE AMÉLIE OR THE CHARACTER OF RAIN, presenting a unique opportunity for audienes to experience two of the best and most critically acclaimed animations from Europe this fall. Written and Directed by Cartoon Saloon veteran Giovanna Ferrari, and produced by Academy Award®-nominee Nora Twomey (The Breadwinner), the short film Éiru has played film festivals worldwide, and took home numerous prizes including the Satoshi Kon Award for Excellence in Animation (Best Short Film – Silver) at Fantasia International Film Festival. |
| The film held its North American premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, before additionally screening as an Official Selection in the Perlak Section at the San Sebastian International Film Festival, where it won the Audience Award for Best European Film, and as an Official Selection at BFI London Film Festival. The film recently held its US premiere at Los Angeles’ Animation is Film Festival, and will go on to screen at the Rome Film Festival, Bucheon International Animation Film Festival, and Tokyo International Film Festival. |
