L.A. Comic Con 2025 is about to get an exclusive glimpse into one of the most anticipated cultural landmarks in Los Angeles: the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art. On Saturday, September 27 at 10:00 AM, the convention’s Main Stage will host “Sneak Peek: Lucas Museum of Narrative Art”, an expansive conversation exploring the power of illustrated storytelling and the importance of preserving popular art forms.
This special panel brings together a dynamic lineup of creative giants across film, comics, and fine art:
🎬 Robert Rodriguez, celebrated filmmaker and innovator behind El Mariachi, Spy Kids, and Alita: Battle Angel
🎨 Frank Miller, iconic comic book writer and artist of Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Sin City, and 300
🖌️ Kadir Nelson, award-winning painter and illustrator known for The Undefeated and his bold, cultural visual narratives
Moderating this all-star panel is none other than Jessica Alba—actress, producer, entrepreneur, and New York Times bestselling author. Alba brings her unique perspective as a creative force and advocate for inclusive, female-driven storytelling through her company Lady Metalmark Entertainment.
The conversation will offer fans and attendees a first look at the Lucas Museum, featuring new renderings, collection highlights, and a pre-recorded interview with co-founders George Lucas and Mellody Hobson. The event also celebrates the contributions of the panelists, whose works are included in the museum’s groundbreaking collection.
Meet the Panelists
Frank Miller
A visionary in the comic book world, Frank Miller redefined superheroes with titles like Daredevil, Batman: Year One, and The Dark Knight Returns. His noir-style epic Sin City not only became a best-selling comic but also a pair of stylized film adaptations, co-directed with Robert Rodriguez. Miller’s influence spans generations, and in recognition of his impact, he was inducted into the Will Eisner Award Hall of Fame.
Kadir Nelson
Renowned for his lush, emotional, and historically resonant paintings, Kadir Nelson has received the Randolph Caldecott Medal, Coretta Scott King Awards, and numerous other honors for his visual storytelling. His works have graced covers of The New Yorker and Rolling Stone, and reside in the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery. His art celebrates Black history, resilience, and cultural identity.
Robert Rodriguez
A true creative multi-hyphenate, Robert Rodriguez has written, directed, edited, and scored some of the most inventive films in modern cinema. From his Sundance-winning El Mariachi to cult classics like Desperado and Machete, Rodriguez has continually pushed boundaries—often alongside family, through his company Double R Productions. In 2024, he launched Brass Knuckle Films, a new fan-supported action film label.
Moderator: Jessica Alba
Best known for her dynamic acting career, Jessica Alba has become a powerhouse behind the scenes as well. Her production company, Lady Metalmark Entertainment, centers on bold, culturally rich, female-led narratives. With recent projects like Trigger Warning (Netflix) and Honest Renovations (Roku), Alba is blazing new trails in Hollywood while spotlighting diverse voices.
