New Hires Diegs Lopez & Caitlin Sinclair Chappell Join Skybound’s Editorial Team

LOS ANGELES 07/21/2025— Today Skybound Entertainment, the multiplatform studio behind global franchises like InvincibleThe Walking DeadImpact WinterStillwater, and hundreds of additional IP, announced the expansion of its editorial team welcoming two new staff members—Diegs Lopez as Senior Editor and Caitlin Sinclair Chappell as Assistant Editor.  

“We’ve had phenomenal success already this year in launching new originals like Invincible Universe: Battle Beast and Ghost Pepper, as well as the sustained excellence of our licensing partnerships,“ said Sean Mackiewicz, SVP, Publisher, Skybound. “With the addition of Diegs and Caitlin, we’ll continue to grow our line and engage our audience with the most exciting comics in stores for many years to come.” 

Diegs Lopez joins as Senior Editor, where she will oversee upcoming licensed projects in the Universal Monsters line and LEGO® NINJAGO® original graphic novels, as well as acquiring new original comics.  

Prior to joining Skybound, Lopez worked primarily on children’s graphic novels both at Abrams Books as Senior Editor of children’s entertainment publishing and DC Comics during the launch of the DC Books for Young Readers program.

Caitlin Sinclair Chappell joins as Assistant Editor, where she will work closely with Editorial Director Alex Antone and Executive Editor Ben Abernathy to tackle a wide array of titles, including the Universal Monsters line and G.I. JOE: A Real American Hero.  

Before Skybound, Chappell worked as a freelance entertainment journalist (Screen Rant, Anime Herald) and at two successful comic shops – New York’s Forbidden Planet and Los Angeles’ Collector’s Paradise.   

“Skybound has a rich catalogue of comics and is willing to push boundaries with its original stories, as well as its licensed ones,” said Chappell. “I’m excited to be a part of a company that takes such big swings, as well as a company dedicated to making life-long readers out of its fans. If you aren’t already a comic fan, there’s a Skybound title that will change that.” 

Skybound also maintains the robust adaptation of original comics IP, with the hit adult animated series Invincible renewed through season 5 on Prime Video and the newly announced fighting game Invincible VS, as well as continued expansion of The Walking Dead universe onscreen. Skybound original Heart Attack was recently adapted into a live-action anime television series with Japanese network Fuji TV. The company continues to announce key licensing, content, and product partnerships across video games, film, tv, audio, and merchandise, in addition to its comics slate, published by Image Comics.

Recent highlights of Skybound’s original editorial output include the record-smashing launch of Invincible Universe: Battle Beast #1 by Robert Kirkman and Ryan Ottley, which is currently headed back to print for the fourth time, and new Skybound Comet original graphic novel Family Force V by Matt Braly and Ainsworth LinSkybound has also continually seen undeniable success across its key licensing partnerships. With leading toy and game company Hasbro, Skybound launched the Energon Universe, which has nabbed the company two Eisner Awards for Daniel Warren Johnson’s TRANSFORMERS, revitalized Larry Hama’s G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero, and run the two most funded comics Kickstarter campaigns of all time. With Universal Products & Experiences, Skybound has seen chart-topping sales with its Universal Monsters line, with the fifth miniseries, The Invisible Man, launching in August. This fall, Skybound will launch the fourth volume of its Eisner Award nominated Creepshow anthology, based on Greg Nicotero’s hit Shudder TV series produced and licensed by Evoke Entertainment.
