The SAG-AFTRA union is calling for solidarity as video game performers and supporters prepare to picket on Thursday, September 19, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon PT. The picket will be held at Disney Character Voices in Burbank, located at 2600 W. Olive Avenue. This event also serves as a reunion for the 2023 Disney picketers, strike captains, and members who stood together during the Hollywood strikes earlier this year.
SAG-AFTRA announced the strike against video game companies at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, July 26. The union is fighting for fair treatment of its members working in interactive media, citing the exploitation of their work and likenesses by artificial intelligence as a significant concern. Video game companies have yet to offer a deal that addresses this pressing issue, prompting the union to take action.
Key figures attending the picket include SAG-AFTRA Interactive Media Agreement (IMA) Committee members such as Andi Norris, Zeke Alton, and Nancy Linari, along with SAG-AFTRA leadership like National Executive Director Duncan Crabtree-Ireland. Members of the union, labor allies, and video game fans are encouraged to join in support.
For those attending, parking is available in two lots on Frederick, and there is 2-hour street parking in the surrounding area.
