If there’s one Comic-Con tradition that never fails to bring joy, sparkle, and representation to the forefront, it’s the Her Universe Fashion Show—and this year it’s kicking off with even more community and connection. Returning co-hosts Ashley Eckstein (voice of Ahsoka Tano in Star Wars) and Broadway star Michael James Scott (the Genie in Disney’s Aladdin) are bringing more than style to the stage—they’re launching a new podcast about friendship, support, and showing up for one another.
Introducing: HypeFriend!
Debuting July 11 with a three-episode premiere, HypeFriend! is a weekly comedy podcast that’s part glitter bomb, part group therapy. Born from their real-life friendship, Ashley and Michael use the show to spark what they call a “friendship revolution”—a movement toward authentic, affirming connection in an age of loneliness.
From laugh-out-loud moments to deeper conversations around what it really means to show up for someone, each episode features segments like “Hypes & Gripes,” “Good Gossip,” and “Neighbor Drop-Ins.” First guests include voice actor Bret Iwan (the voice of Mickey Mouse) and RuPaul’s Drag Race favorite Nina West (a.k.a. Andrew Levitt).

More Than Fashion: Mental Health and Meaningful Connection
Ashley Eckstein, who also serves on the National Advisory Council for The Kids Mental Health Foundation, has long advocated for the emotional needs of fandom communities. With HypeFriend!, she and Michael are continuing that mission by creating spaces for joy, authenticity, and support—because as Ashley says, “There’s a recipe for friendship.”
Michael puts it best: “Doing a podcast with my lifelong bestie where we overshare and laugh too loud? That’s my love language.”
