(Thousand Oaks, CA) – The Paul Taylor Dance Company is set to captivate audiences with their dynamic athleticism on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at 8:00 pm at the Fred Kavli Theatre.
One of the most iconic and dynamic modern dance ensembles of our time, the Paul Taylor Dance Company has been innovating and transforming the art form of modern dance since 1954. Paul Taylor emerged as a cutting-edge choreographer in the 1950s. Over six decades, he crafted 147 company works that provoke social issues and spotlight theatrical modern dance. Taylor’s astonishing legacy continues today under the leadership of Michael Novak, a company member appointed to the role of Artistic Director by Taylor before his passing in 2018.
This program features two Taylors classics and a new piece by Hope Boykin.

Created in 1997, Taylor’s Piazzolla Caldera is a sensual exposé of tango reinterpreted and reimagined in modern dance. Taylor honors the tradition of tango, preserving the essence of the form in his choreography. The music, composed by Astor Piazzolla and Jerzy Peterburshsky, shapes the work into four distinct sections, a complex and electric landscape where dancers sway and swivel.
A perennial audience favorite, Brandenburgs, (1988) taps into dancer stamina and athleticism, yielding moments of utter joy. Elegant and virtuosic, this is choreographic grandeur at its finest, married flawlessly within the joyous atmosphere of Bach’s Brandenburg Concertos.
The company ushers in a new era with the premiere of How Love Sounds by Boykin. Nine dancers perform boundary-pushing movement, all set to Boykin’s favorite songs that “sound like love.” You’ll hear the joyful timbre of Stevie Wonder, the shimmering pulse of Donna Summer, the heartbroken twang of Patsy Cline, and even the stirring music of Antonín Dvořák.
