The “Hollywood Game Changers” panel returned for its 5th year at Comic-Con with a powerhouse of women leading the charge being popular entertainment projects and companies! The discussion included stories about making one’s mark in the industry all while blazing a trail for the next generation of creatives and CEOs. The panel featured executive producer/co-writer/ voiceover actress Ashleigh Crystal Hairston (The Fairly OddParents: A New Wish), director/ actor/ writer/co-founder of Not Your Daddy’s Films Carlye Tamaren, composer Joy Ngiaw (Wondla), Big Talk creator Kalina Silverman, re-recording mixer Kate Finan of Boom Box Post (Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), and co-founder of On Camera Audiences KC Cavarozzi, and was moderated by writer and producer Victoria Male.

During the panel, director, actor, and writer Carlye Tamaren talked about co-founding the social impact organization Not Your Daddy’s Films. “Information sharing has been at the heart of Not Your Daddy’s Films. We identified a significant gap in the industry — there weren’t many supportive programs available for women and non-binary filmmakers, and those that existed were often difficult to access. We knew we had to build what we needed ourselves.”

The “From Script to Screen” panel took audiences behind the scenes with industry professionals as they discussed how to bring stories to life for an unforgettable on-screen experience. The panel featured costume designer and Chairman of the American Theatre Wing Emilio Sosa (Descendents: The Rise of Red), casting director Jazzy Collins, CSA (The Traitors), re-recording mixer Jeff Shiffman of Boom Box Post (Invincible), editor Joaquin Elizondo (Griselda), editor Kelley Tourangeau (Vanderpump Villa), composer Scot Stafford of Pollen Music Group (Ultraman: Rising), and was moderated by reporter Owen Danoff (Screen Rant).

Editor Kelley Tourangeau gave the audience an insight into the editing process for Vanderpump Villa and explained how important collaboration is behind-the-scenes. “Collaboration is key, especially in the first season of an unscripted reality show. It’s a highly collaborative process involving a lot of trust between the post-production team, editors, and the director. We spend a lot of time figuring out the show’s style and ensuring each episode matches the overall series.”

The Impact24 PR Superblock Panel Series ended on a high note with the “Fan Favorites: Behind The Scenes of Popular Film and TV Shows” panel. Audiences were in for a treat as they got to hear how projects like One Piece, Gen V, Shōgun, and Only Murders in the Building were made. The panel featured editor Eric Litman (One Piece), co-producer/ editor Shelly Westerman, ACE (Only Murders in the Building), composer Matt Bowen (Gen V, The Boys), VFX supervisor Michael Cliett (Shōgun), editor Stephanie Filo, ACE (A Black Lady Sketch Show), composer/ songwriter Mark Evitts (Frog & Toad), and was moderated by co-founder and executive producer of Shade Studios/Shade TV, Marissa Hill.

VFX Supervisor Michael Cliett dove into the research process behind his Emmy-nominated work for Shōgun. “Research and historical accuracy were paramount in the visual effects for ‘Shōgun.’ Everything needed to be grounded in history and reality, which turned it into a labor of love and a painstaking process for our team. From a crew standpoint, we formed a close bond with the cast. It was an emotional journey for them because we were telling this story on such a grand and intricate scale, eliciting a strong emotional reaction, particularly from our Japanese cast members. It was important for us to do a good job for them because they were so proud of the material.”
