June 24, 2024 (Los Angeles, CA) – Filmmaker Julien Hayet-Kerknawi announced the launch of Enigma Releasing, a Belgium-based distribution company dedicated to bringing high-quality European indie films to U.S. theaters, and vice versa.
The company’s mission is to create a cultural exchange through film and support directors with unique voices and strong creative control over their projects. Enigma aspires to give their filmmakers the same absolute and creative freedom that defined the great films of the 70s.
Enigma Releasing will launch with the riveting War Action Thriller, THE LAST FRONT, which is set to release theatrically on August 9, 2024. The feature film, directed by Enigma founder Hayet-Kerknawi and written by Hayet-Kerknawi and Kate Wood, stars Iain Glen (Game of Thrones), Sasha Luss (Anna), Joe Anderson (Across the Universe), James Downie (The Outpost), Emma Dupont (Don’t Tell Her), David Calder (Rush), and Julian Kostov (Shadow and Bone).
In a Belgian village during the tumultuous start of World War I, the Lambert family finds themselves thrust into the heart of the conflict in THE LAST FRONT. At the center is Leonard Lambert (Glen), a devoted husband and father who grapples with protecting his family amidst the chaos of war as German forces advance to their village. Amidst the war, a tender love story blossoms between Adrien Lambert, Leonard’s son, and Louise Janssen, a local villager. Their relationship serves as a beacon of hope and resilience in the face of adversity. With its compelling portrayal of familial bonds, love amidst chaos, and the indomitable human spirit, THE LAST FRONT promises to immerse audiences in a gripping tale of survival, love, and the enduring impact of war on both individuals and communities.

THE LAST FRONT is produced by Virginie Hayet, who also produced Hayet-Kerknawi’s short film, A Broken Man.
Enigma Releasing intends to acquire and shepherd new theatrical films, aiming for 4-5 film releases a year.
