First ChocoLAte Talk & Tasting Event Comes to NHM This Week

Author: Newsroom

The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County is proud to present the first installment in the ChocoLAte Talk & Tasting series, “Keeping It Grounded.”

As the first of three evening events designed to further expand upon the ongoing ChocoLAte: From Beans to Bliss online video series, “Keeping It Grounded” will take a deep look at sustainability in chocolate. Featuring an hour-long discussion with Ethnobotanist and Cacao Expert, Patricia Tsai of Chocovivo and Executive Pastry Chef, Mac Daniel Dimla of Providence LA (and moderated by NHM’s Associate Director of Community Engagement and mastermind behind the Being Los Angeles initiative and ChocoLAte series, Milena Acosta), the trio will dive into topics like “What is sustainable chocolate?” and “What are the health and environmental benefits of working with sustainable chocolate producers?”

With a focus on allowing guests to explore the universal ways chocolate has impacted people’s lives, each guest will also receive a chocolate tasting from Chocovivo and Providence LA with admission. While the ChocoLAte video series will continue to share the stories behind these local chocolatiers and influential figures, the Talk & Tasting series presents an opportunity to meet and directly connect with these experts and hear their thoughts on some of the key topics within the industry and community.

In order to continue the celebration of culture, heritage, and history of the people who call L.A. home (even beyond a shared love of chocolate), select first-floor exhibitions will be on view before and after the conversation. Space is limited to approximately 60 guests, with tickets available online now at the link below.
