WHAT:
First Fridays: From Feelings to Pheromones begins March 1 with an evening focused on “Animal Love.” Join us after hours as we explore the art of wooing and the science of flirting with topical discussions, signature cocktails, live music, and more.
This season welcomes back neuroscientist and science communicator Dr. Yewande Pearse as moderator. In this month’s discussion, “The Creature Dating Game and Other Mating Habits of the Animal Kingdom,” we are paired with evolutionary biologist Dr. Patty Brennan, to consider the various ways we’re preoccupied with attracting that special someone.
Set the mood with DJ Senay M. Kenfe, who specializes in soul and R&B slow jams. Catch a vibe with outdoor performances by Jesse Boykins III and Annahstasia. This season features the indoor Sensory Lounge, a captivating blend of visual art and soundscape transforming the Grand Foyer, curated by LAVA and Femme House. This March, the Sensory Lounge will host natural product vendors Herbalaria and ChocoVivo.
First Fridays guests can also expect special NHM collections displays, evening tours, and various food trucks. The event runs from 5 pm until 10 pm, with tickets available now for $20 each. Attendance is free for Members, but advanced reservations are recommended as limited tickets are available at the door.
