His name was Izzy Lyon, and he was the greatest sign spinner of all time…” Izzy Lyon: The Unspun Truth takes a deep dive into the murky life, and loves, of famed sign spinner, Izzy Lyon. From his meteoric early 80s rise to his inevitable late 90s downfall, this warts-and-all documentary paints a relatively compelling portrait of the man Walter Cronkite once referred to as “the Picasso of Sign Spinning.” Featuring never-before-seen archival footage and exclusive interviews, the film recounts Izzy’s humble beginnings on the mean streets of Chicago, and his meteoric ascent into fame and fortune that led to a botched assassination attempt and eventual departure from the public eye. In the 20 years since his disappearance, all attempts to find Izzy have failed. To make matters worse, somewhat dubious claims of personal indiscretions and questionable spinning techniques have resulted in a conspiracy to erase Izzy’s name from the annals of sign spinning and exclude him from the Spinternational Hall of Fame. Riding a wave of renewed interest and publicity generated by the production of this film, Izzy’s friends and family have once again heroically banded together to take up the fight to restore the legacy behind the legendary sign spinner.
