Level 33 Entertainment Acquires Worldwide Rights to Sav Rodgers’ Poignant Debut Feature Chasing Chasing Amy

Los Angeles, CA – (July 11, 2024) EXCLUSIVE: Level 33 Entertainment has secured the acquisition of worldwide rights to Chasing Chasing Amy, the feature directorial debut of Sav Rodgers. The documentary, which premiered at the 2023 Tribeca Festival, has screened at 75 festivals around the world to date, including the BFI London Film Festival, Outfest Los Angeles, and Palm Springs International. The film has garnered critical acclaim, audience awards, and Best Documentary honors at festivals including the Cleveland International Film Festival, Roze Filmdagen, St. Louis International, Omaha, Hell’s Half Mile, and more.

Level 33 will release Chasing Chasing Amy in the fall theatrically, and with interactive streaming service Kino for a virtual premiere event with live Q&A, followed by on-demand and a physical media release.  Chasing Chasing Amy explores the complex legacy of Kevin Smith’s Chasing Amy (1997) on LGBTQ+ people and its life-saving impact on director Sav Rodgers. Throughout the journey of making the documentary, the filmmaker is confronted with unexpected truths that ultimately shape who he becomes.

Named to The Popcorn List – hailing the year’s most outstanding undistributed films chosen by festival programmers across the country – Chasing Chasing Amy marks the first acquisition from this collection of independent films and is currently 94% Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes.

The film features exclusive interviews with notable figures such as Kevin Smith, Joey Lauren Adams, Guinevere Turner, Scott Mosier, Andrew Ahn, Jason Lee, Robert Hawk, Princess Weekes, and Academy Award-winner Kevin Willmott.

Produced by Sav Rodgers, Alex Schmider, Carrie Radigan, Lela Meadow-Conner, and Matthew C. Mills, the documentary boasts cinematography by Bill Winters and Bradley Garrison, who also serves as Co-Producer. The film is edited by Sharika Ajaikumar, with an original score composed by Jordi Nus. 

Executive Producers are Jeffrey Weber, Tyler J. Emerson, Yana Buhrer-Tavanier, Drew E. Burbridge, Anthony Pedone, and Chris Vivion. Associate Producers include Clare Bateman-King, Kat Klein, Lauren Devlin, Marni Ellis, Regina “Riley” Rodgers, Ryan James, Christy Tostevin, and Jason Tostevin.

Chasing Chasing Amy is produced by Spacestation, Professional Amateur Productions, mamafilm, and Yeehaw Pictures. The deal was negotiated by Arielle Lever of CAA on behalf of the filmmakers, and Olavarria on behalf of Level 33 Entertainment.
