TAGGS 2027 is happening April 1–4, 2027, and you can now submit a proposal until October 16, 2026.
TAGGS, the Therapeutic and Applied Geek and Gaming Summit from Geek Therapy®, is where helping professionals, educators, and creators share how they use Geek and Gaming culture in their work. It is a professional conference with the heart of a fan convention, and every year it is built by the people who submit.
TAGGS 2027 theme is…
Our theme for 2027 is Reclaiming Our Stories, Revisiting Our Past.
We are asking you to revisit formative fandoms, reexamine familiar narratives, preserve community histories, recover forgotten voices, and create new stories from the past. Looking back can help us understand, and even reshape, the stories we carry forward.
Priority goes to proposals that connect to the theme. A few ways in:
- How our past fandoms have shaped us
- Ways we re-experience and revisit media, like reboots, rewatches, and new mediums
- Interacting with problematic media and addressing that in our lives
Who should submit
If you use Geek and Gaming culture in therapeutic, educational, or community practice, we want to hear from you! You do not need a publication record or a long CV. Helping professionals, educators, students, game designers, and content creators all present at TAGGS.
Key dates
- October 16, 2026: last day to submit a proposal
- Week of November 23, 2026: acceptance emails go out
- April 1–4, 2027: TAGGS 2027, with sessions between 9 am and 5 pm Pacific
Proposal guidelines
Want to get everything ready before you open the form? Here is what it asks for.
Session type. Choose one:
- Presentation: focused on sharing information, such as a slide deck with a speaker and audience questions.
- Workshop: focused on teaching a skill, with interactive activities and feedback from the facilitator. Think designing a mini-game, building an RPG plot, or creating interventions for a fandom. Workshops are recorded for TAGGS replays but do not qualify for home study CE credit.
About you.
- A short bio, 150 words max. Bios help attendees get to know you and are also part of CE requirements, so include your credentials, specializations, and the populations you work with. If your session connects to your lived experience, mention the relevant parts of your background. A personal hobby or interest is welcome too.
- Your degree and field of study, your credentials, and any training relevant to your topic
- Your CV and a headshot
- The same details for up to four co-presenters
About your session.
- A title and a description. Be descriptive, but brief.
- Up to four learning objectives. Following NBCC guidance, each one should describe what participants will be able to do afterward, be observable and measurable, and use action verbs like analyze, apply, create, evaluate, or summarize. Avoid vague verbs like understand, learn, know, or appreciate.
- Three to five references in APA format, at least three of them published in the past five years in scientific journals or research-based literature. You may use AI to help format your reference list, but you are responsible for its accuracy. Proposals with fictitious references will be withdrawn from consideration.
- Your preferred time slots, your technology and accessibility needs, and the maximum number of attendees for your session
Optional: identity representation. The TAGGS selection process considers presenter diversity to include and uplift underrepresented groups and identities. You can share as much or as little as you like about how you self-identify, including your top fandoms and hobbies.
Recording and rights. TAGGS records and hosts sessions, but your content belongs to you. TAGGS only requests hosting and distribution rights. Recordings are available to Media Pass holders for one year and may stay available beyond that, and you can ask us to remove them at any time.
Code of Conduct. All presenters agree to follow the TAGGS Code of Conduct.
