Cover Reveal: The Series Finale of COBRA COMMANDER #5 from Joshua Williamson & Andrea Milana

LOS ANGELES 04/26/2024 — Today Skybound and Image Comics, in collaboration with leading toy and game company Hasbro, revealed an impressive lineup of variant covers for Cobra Commander #5 from writer Joshua Williamson (DC’s SupermanDark Ride), artist Andrea Milana (Impact Winter: Rook) and colorist Annalisa Leoni (Oblivion Song). The series finale of the Energon Universe’s buzzed-about limited series arrives in comic book shops on May 22, 2024.  

To build an army, Cobra Commander makes a deal with a powerful ally that can’t be trusted. Now that’s its started, can the Cobra Threat ever be stopped? 

Cobra Commander #5 will feature a main cover by Milana & Leoni, along with a stacked lineup of variant covers including an open to order cover by Mateus Santolouco (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), the final cover in the 1:10 incentive connecting cover series by Chris Burnham (Die! Die! Die!& Brian Reber (Black Cat), a 1:25 incentive variant by Brian Level (Immortal Hulk), and a 1:50 incentive variant by Dustin Nguyen (Descender, Ascender). 

The second of four action-packed G.I. JOE miniseries that introduce the iconic characters of the G.I. Joe and Cobra teams to the Energon Universe, Cobra Commander follows the recent conclusion of Duke, the limited series from Joshua Williamson, Tom Reilly (The Thing) and Jordie Bellaire (W0rldtr33). These miniseries set the stage for a fresh new take on G.I. Joe, Cobra and the iconic characters that you only think you know in a shared universe with TRANSFORMERS and Void Rivals

The Energon Universe officially began with the surprise first appearance of iconic TRANSFORMERS character Jetfire in Void Rivals from writer Robert Kirkman (Invincible, The Walking Dead), artist Lorenzo De Felici (Kroma), and Patricio Delpeche (The Sandman Universe: Nightmare Country), introducing the historic new collaboration between Hasbro and Skybound, with TRANSFORMERS and G.I. JOE comics finding a new home with the publisher. Then TRANSFORMERS from writer Daniel Warren Johnson (ExtremityDo a Powerbomb, DC’s Wonder Woman: Dead Earth), artist Jorge Corona (Middlewest), and colorist Mike Spicer (Stillwater, Murder Falcon) kicked off a brand-new era for the iconic franchise. The Energon Universe further expanded with the launch of Duke and Cobra CommanderBeginning in June 2024, limited series Scarlettfrom writer Kelly Thompson (Black Widow, DC’s Birds of Prey), artist Marco Ferrari (Frontiersman), and colorist Lee Loughridge (I Hate This Place, Killadelphia) and Destrofrom writer Dan Watters (Loki, Universal Monsters: Creature from the Black Lagoon Lives!), artist Andrei Bressan (Dark Ride, Birthright), and colorist Adriano Lucas (Dark Ride, Birthright) will round out the lineup of action-packed G.I. JOE miniseries that introduce the iconic characters of the G.I. JOE and Cobra factions to the Energon Universe. Fans should expect can’t-miss moments from every issue of the Energon Universe, as secrets are unveiled along the path to answering the BIG questions.
