Author: Newsroom

Lake Forest, CA – February 6, 2019 – Cryptozoic Entertainment, leading creator of board games, trading cards, and physical and digital collectibles, and Sony Pictures Television announced the February 15 release of Outlander Trading Cards Season 3 today.

This is the first set for the hugely popular series Outlander to feature Autograph Cards signed by Caitriona Balfe, who stars as Claire Randall Fraser. Based on the third season of Starz’s time-travel drama, the release includes a 72-card Base Set, four Chase Sets, and randomly inserted Autograph, Wardrobe, and Sketch Cards.

“Caitriona Balfe’s performance as Claire is one of the reasons the Outlander TV series is so beloved, so we are extremely excited to have her sign for a set for the first time,” said Dustin Porras, Assistant Product Manager of Trading Cards at Cryptozoic. “We have been lucky to work with the incredibly passionate Outlander community every step of the way to create an amazing release with beautiful images from the show, unique Chase Sets, autographs from several notable Season 3 actors, gorgeous Sketch Cards, and pieces of the actual fabrics used to make the gorgeous costumes. We think that this is a product that Outlander fans will love for years.”

In addition to Balfe, signers for the set include fan-favorite stars David Berry (Lord John Grey), John Bell (Young Ian Murray), César Domboy (Fergus), Richard Rankin (Roger Wakefield), Sophie Skelton (Brianna Randall Fraser), Laura Donnelly (Jenny Murray), and Tobias Menzies (Frank Randall / Jack Randall), among others.

This is the first Outlander trading card release to have one-of-a-kind Sketch Cards from some of today’s hottest artists, who drew inspiration from the characters and locations of the series.

The set’s Wardrobe and Dual Wardrobe Cards contain pieces of fabrics used in the production of costumes worn by actors in the show, including Sam Heughan (Jamie Fraser) and Caitriona Balfe (Claire Randall Fraser).

The four Chase Sets are “Characters,” providing descriptions and images of key characters that look like they were printed by “A. Malcolm,” Jamie Fraser’s identity when he works as a printer on the show; “On Set,” showcasing behind-the-scenes photographs of key Season 3 locations; “The Skye Boat Song,” featuring quotations from the show’s theme song in stylish lettering and the name “A. Malcolm,” again suggesting they could have been printed in the world of the show; and “Key Art Puzzle,” a 9-card puzzle set featuring key art from the show that depicts Claire and Jamie longing for one another.

Outlander Trading Cards Season 3 will be available at retailers nationwide on February 15.
