New York, NY January 28, 2021 – Greenwich Entertainment announced today the acquisition of North American distribution rights to Karen Dalton: In My Own Time the directorial debut of Richard Peete and Robert Yapkowitz. The documentary, executive produced by Wim Wenders, premiered to rave reviews at DOC NYC and Greenwich will release the film later this year.

Featuring interviews with Nick Cave, Vanessa Carlton, and Lacy J. Dalton, who took her professional surname as tribute, Karen Dalton: In My Own Time – named after Dalton’s second album – explores the influential music and troubled life of the singular artist whose fans in the Greenwich Village folk scene included Bob Dylan. The film includes voice over from indie folk artist Angel Olsen and a score by Julia Holter. Since most images of Karen have been lost or destroyed, the film uses Karen’s dulcet melodies and interviews with loved ones to build a rich portrait of this singular woman and her hauntingly beautiful voice.

“Karen was unconventional, from the way she lived her life to the way she approached her music,” said directors Richard Peete and Robert Yapkowitz. “The mystery of Karen Dalton may never be solved, but hopefully our movie will help people to better understand her relationship with the creative process, her personal struggles and most importantly how all of this contributed to a singular body of work. We couldn’t be more excited to be partnering with Greenwich to help introduce this film and Karen’s work to the world.”

Karen Dalton: In My Own Time was produced by Traci Carlson and Richard Peete of Neighborhood Watch with Wim Wenders and Light In the Attic executive producing. Greenwich’s Ed Arentz negotiated the deal with UTA Independent Film Group on behalf of the filmmakers.
